Currency:
The official currency in Australia is the Australian Dollar.
Best time to Travel:
Byron Bay experiences a subtropical climate with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 28°C in summers and 15 to 21°C in winters. The best time to visit is during the winters as there is plenty of sunshine and the crowds are less.

Local Transport options:
There are many options for transportation in and around Byron Bay.
There is the Byron Bay Shuttle which is a door to door service form Brisbane and Gold Coast Airport’s and Brisbane CBD.
Around town there is the “easy bus” which offers a fast, frequent, value for money service.
Taxis and getting your own rental car for the duration of your stay always makes your trip that little more flexible as you won’t be running with time tables!
Local food and drink:
The Byron Bay region is home to many restaurants, cafes and takeaway food outlets. The main streets for dining in Byron Bay include Jonson Street, Bay Lane, and Lawson Street.
Also with the fabulous markets on in Byron Bay there is the option to pick up your fresh fruit and vegetables to take back to your apartment!

The county code for calling Australia is +61.
There are plenty of internet cafes where you can access internet connections and your email. Most major Hotels will also have internet connections on site, sometimes not always in your room but in a business centre or the main lobby.
Banking Hours:
There are branches of almost all of the Australian "National" banks throughout the town. All banks provide electronic banking facilities including ATMs outside almost all branches.
Most banks are open Monday to Friday 9am – 4pm.

Electricity in Australia is 240 Volts
Tipping:
As a rule, tipping is not expected in Byron Bay, however, it is customary so if you are happy with someone who has tried that little bit harder and gone the extra mile, then a tip is in order and always appreciated. Giving a small tip (10% of the bill) in a restaurant is in order if the service is good.
Shopping:
The Byron retail experience is unique and features local artisan and crafts people, sophisticated clothing and lifestyle brands, local produce and wholefoods. Key areas include Jonson Street, the Lawson and Fletcher Street block and the Arts and Industry Estate and each has its own flavour.
Do not forget about the local markets either where you can pick up wonderful hand crafted souvenirs or unique clothes items.
