Meet Lifestyle Journeys' Local Indigenous Guides

Ricardo Guggenheimer

Spain

- Ricardo Guggenheimer

Our experienced multi-lingual guide during the walking tour of Spain. Describing himself as an “eternal traveller”, Ricardo was born in the US but moved to Spain as a child, and later to England.

He spent ten years travelling and working around Europe experiencing ‘the university of life’. With a background in the Humanities (from the University of Toledo, Spain) he has also studied natural medicine and massage.

Ricardo’s people skills and sense of adventure, coupled with his knowledge of Spain and its culture, makes him an invaluable guide. He passionately believes in travel as an ‘experience’, which for him means: “seeing, feeling, taking part and sharing in remarkable journeys”.

 Willaru Huyatu

Peru

- Willaru Huyatu

Willaru is an Incan spiritual messenger from Cusco, Peru. A Quecha Indian, as our guide in Peru Willaru generously shares his extensive local knowledge, both of today and the past. Taking us back through time to the ancient Inca civilisation, Willaru brings the soul of Peru to life.

This humble and gentle man rejects conventional labels such as ‘teacher’ or ‘shaman’. Instead, he prefers to be known simply as ‘a student of life’. Willaru brings invaluable insight to Lifestyle Journeys’ tour of Peru, not only in terms of local customs and culture, but also in his interpretation and guidance of life’s spiritual path.

Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche

Tibet

- Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche

Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche is our guide to the mystical kingdom of Tibet. A Buddhist monk, he has taught around the world, including New Zealand, Australia, UK, Holland, Spain, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

In 2003, he established a Buddhist centre in Nelson, New Zealand. A deeply spiritual and intelligent man, yet Rinpoche is also immensely approachable with a good sense of humour. To enjoy his company and share in his knowledge is an unforgettable experience.

Actively involved in helping his people, Rinpoche is committed to developing a Buddhist College of Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche at Ju Mohar. His first project, with help from his western students, is to build a school for orphans and children of one-parent families and to establish a clinic for local people at Junyong.

Miguel Angel Vergara

Mexico

-Miguel Angel Vergara

Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros is our guide and teacher and leading authority on Chichen Itza and the pyramid of K'u-Kuul-Kaan. He is the author of several books on the Maya including two on Chichen Itza for four years.

He studied for 17 years with Myan elder, Don Vincente Martin, who was a wisdom keeper, professional teacher and artist. Miguel Angel became a master in his own right, known as Master Nazul, and teaches seminars in Mexico and abroad on Mayan astronomy, philosophy, calendar, glyphs and symbols, medicine, cosmovision, traditions and prayers, ceremonies and healing. Miguel Angel teaches us how to connect with the masters of light who are available to teach and guide us now, as in ancient times. His knowledge and experience make the journeys come alive as we begin to understand how the messages were imprinted, what the glyphs mean, how the buildings were used and how the ceremonies were conducted.

Those who experience him realize they are in the presence of a master and are being given an extraordinary gift.
